Staff Council supports and promotes Many service projects
Volunteers are welcome. Projects center around providing services and opportunities for the staff and the surrounding community. For more information, click the project title and contact the Committee Chair or a Staff Council officer.
AppKIDS Shopping Day
For 29 years, Staff Council members have raised money to support Children's Shopping Day. Each year, Staff Council members have taken approximately 90 local students shopping for winter coats, boots and other necessities.
Freshman Move-In Day
Welcome incoming Freshman and their families. We smile and answer questions. Give directions. Provide water and snacks from tent locations on East and West sides of campus. This project is done in coordination with Housing and Residence Life.
Give a Family a Coat
Prior to the winter holidays, collection boxes are placed around the campus. Last year, 22 ASU staff collected 639 items from 21 collection sites: 480 coats, 37 hats, 23 scarves, 29 pairs of gloves and 70 miscellaneous items were collected for families in need.
Scholarships
Staff Council awards scholarships to staff members and their dependents who are pursuing higher education. Among other promotions, Main Street Marketing High Country Discount Dining Cards are sold by volunteers. All procedes go to Staff Council Scholarships!

Results are publicized by the Quality of Life Committee. The last results were published in 2007.

Centennial bricks are dedicated to the recognition of members who have given their time and service to Appalachian State University and may be purchased in honor or memory of any staff member--past or present.
