APPKIDS Shopping Day 2009

The generosity of people in the High Country shone brightly once again, as did the sun, for the Annual AppKIDS Shopping Spree on Friday, November 13^th (KIDS stands for Kindness in Donations and Service).

Over 100 volunteers took 90 of Watauga County’s financially disadvantaged school children (grades K-12) for a day of shopping for necessary winter clothing, shoes and boots. Over $13,500 was raised—75% from ASU employees and 25% from local businesses; each child was awarded $150 for the day.   (read more...)

Mission Statement

The purpose of Staff Council shall be to provide representation for the staff community and to strive for a voice in decision making on matters that concern staff. Staff employees recognize their increasing role of providing professional support to the university. The Staff Council shall continually seek new opportunities for staff to offer their services and experience to Appalachian, while also ensuring that staff employees work in a positive, respectful atmosphere with opportunities for their own professional and personal growth.
